Laney Puhalla

Laney is an amazing twirler. She was the former MMoA and had won multiple times. She is the WBTF Jr. Women’s world gold medalist. She is the new UTK feature twirler. She will be joining the USA World Team in Holland next year. We asked her the questions you wanted answered.

Here are your questions:

1) What is your favorite part about twirling?

2) If you could change one thing about the sport where would it be?

3) What has been your favorite twirling memory?

4) Can you give your favorite/best tip to success?

5) If you could say anything to your younger self what would it be?

6) What/who is your biggest motivation?

7) What is your favorite trick to watch and to do?

Here are her answers:

1) more than anything I love performing and entertaining- I love that when I take the floor I totally forgot it is a competition and i am able to just have fun and entertain the crowd and judges!

2)gosh, this is such a crazy question! I think our sport is so unique there is nothing that I would physically change. If I had the opportunity to change anything I’d probably change the fact that is not as commonly known. I wish more people had the opportunity to see the sport of baton twirling!

3)there are so many to pick from but aside from all the glorious moments I think some of my favorite memories are created on the road trips to competitions! My mom is literally my best friend so a 10 hour road trip to nationals together can be quite entertaining!

4)my favorite quote right now is “Don’t Dream it’s Over.” Basically meaning keep your chin up... you are going to face some bumps in the road, not only in the Twirling world but in life as well and it is important that you don’t get discouraged!

5)Honestly if I could go back in time I’d tell younger me to live in the moment and soak it all in. Time flies way too fast and if you blink you just might miss some of the best moments!

6) I believe that your biggest competition is yourself, that being said i think that I am my biggest motivation. I constantly find myself trying to “one up” what I did the time before, I want to never stop improving and growing!

7) I think there is something really special and unique about flat triples! Being one of the first females to compete that trick was monumental and will always stick with me! Beside that, I think there is an elegance to horizontal tricks so having the flair of a horizontal triple is something that stands out!
