This week, we interviewed Claudia Swauger. She is from Ohio and she is apart of the Wheaton Dance Twirl Teams. She was the 2016 Junior MMoA and is a 5x USA world team member.

These are the questions you asked her:

1) What is your favorite part about twirling? 2) If you could change one thing about the sport where would it be? 3) What has been your favorite twirling memory? 4) Can you give your favorite/best tip to success? 5) If you could say anything to your younger self what would it be? 6) What/who is your biggest motivation? 7) What is your favorite trick to watch and to do?

These are her answers:

1) Getting to see all of my friends from near and far and making new friends along the way! 2) While I love illusion tricks, I would restrict the amount of illusions a person is allowed to do to prevent as many injuries. 3) My favorite memory is from 2016 Nationals when I was standing with my friends during Junior Miss Majorette of America awards trying to figure out who won and we realized it was me! 4) Never give up on your dreams and continue to push yourself to new levels. 5) Try not to focus on the big tricks so much and don’t move on to new things without perfecting the basics and the correcting technique on everything. 6) There are so many twirlers that inspire and motivate me, but the Japanese twirlers have always amazed me with their talent, work ethic, and their ability to make everything they do seem flawless.

7) I love to watch rolls, so unique variations of rolls always interest me. Two baton is definitely my favorite event, so it is my go-to for everything. I love the cool tricks that you are able to do with two batons and how each routine looks different because the amount of tricks you have the ability to create.
